RHMTC revue About to take audiences on a journey through Time

If you had a time machine and could go back to any point in time… where would you go? Or should that be WHEN would you go?

The two intrepid time-travelling narrators of the new musical revue “About Time” from the Rocky Hill Musical Theatre Company go back across the last ten decades, checking out musicals along the way as they look for a glitch in the time-stream.

Or is there maybe something else going on?

Co-Director of About Time, Sarah Trama, described the musical revue as a chance to hear great songs from across the last 100 years of musicals, sung by some amazing voices.

“About Time features some really popular, well known, iconic songs from all of the different eras since the roaring 20s,” she said.

“And we have been blessed with this amazing cast, a mix of some performers who have been in previous RHMTC shows, and some making their debuts with the company including some really extraordinary young talent.”

In addition to some new performers, Sarah was effusive with praise for Marianne Powles, Hannah Cotton and Phil Fraser who have assisted with vocal coaching, choreography and accompaniment respectively.

“Thanks to Marianne, Hannah and Phil it’s going to be an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza,” she said.

“The whole crew behind this show has just been so generous and inspirational… it’s been an absolute joy to be involved with.”

Her partner in crime… or should that be time, co-director Chris Gordon, wrote the story connecting the songs and said he was excited for the Company to be performing in a new venue.

“St Peter and Paul’s Primary Hall is a very versatile space, with a really big stage,” he said.

“It’s given us some great options for staging and I hope people will come and see these incredible performers, hear these great songs and check out this performance space.”

The RHMTC, like most of us, were very moved by the sacrifice and generosity of the RFS and SES over the lengthy bushfire season and the flooding that followed, and will be offering them free admission on opening night as a gesture of appreciation.

“It’s just a way of saying thanks in the best way we could,” Chris said.

“On our opening night, Friday 20^th March, any RFS or SES member who comes to the show and shows us their ID will get in for free. No need to book ahead, just show your ID at the door and you’re in.”

About Time will be performed from 7.30pm on Friday March 20, Saturday March 21, Friday March 27, Saturday March 28, Friday April 3 and Saturday April 4, along with matinees from 2pm on Sunday March 22, and Sunday March 29.
